This Is Not A Dream is a set of short plays written by Young Playwrights Ukraine, a group of young authors some of whom are still in Ukraine while others are displaced.  The group was founded by New York-based writer Laura Cahill.

She’s a student at Kyiv Municipal Academy of Performing and Circus Arts where she studies directing. She dreams of becoming both a theater director and a writer and to fill plays with the magic of the Carpathians.

She studies writing for performance at the Central School for Speech and Drama in London. She wants to be a part of the theatre, be a creative collaborator, and work with others to show the bittersweet beauty of people’s hearts.
Sasha SeredaSasha SeredaRuinsSasha Sereda is a 19-year-old writer and director from Kyiv Ukraine. She’s currently pursuing a BFA in film at SUNY Purchase. She dreams about making films and bringing them to the world, with Ukraine in her heart.
Karina SyrotaKarina SyrotaThe OrchidKarina Syrota is a 20-year-old writer and creator from Kyiv, Ukraine, currently living in the U.S where she studies Computer Science at Marist College in New York. She dreams of opening her own theatre or film studio to empower artistic voices and bring untold stories around the world to life, the way it happened to her thanks to Laura Cahill and everyone in the Young Playwrights Ukraine family.
Laura CahillLaura Cahill Laura Cahill (Founder and Artistic Director Young Playwrights Ukraine) Laura Cahill is a writer and teacher in NYC. She began YPU in the weeks after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to use theater as a response to war. For almost three years, she’s brought professional playwrights, directors and actors together to work with young writers. The writer’s plays have been performed on Zoom, as well as live in New York, Kyiv, Tel Aviv, and India.
